Well I called the MCC choice. Kuyper kinda got a tough bit, but FCC has tons of talent, and have put it together lately.

If I am VFCC I am jumping up and down right now. Not looking ahead but the most dangerous team in their bracket looks like Kuyper and realitically Kuyper could be out in the first round. Not saying it will happen but Central Bible College always brings their A game at Nationals. Also I do not want to get ahead of myself at all, but that possible final four matchup VFCC vs Kuyper and Grace and OCU. I agree with Blevins on this one Kuyper has to play Central then a date with KCU and a possible matchup with VFCC. Wow!

FCC should get some credit here they weren’t the same team as before when they faced VFCC or Grace bible at the beginning of the year they found a way to pull it together to win their region when no one was giving them a chance to win the south region not to mention they have a dynamic duo that leads the squad with Aj Williams and Quinton Haugabook they also have Terence Taylor who was an all American back last year who carried them past Clearwater this year in the region championship along with Jojo wood and Monti lynch if you sleep on this FCC squad they will surprise you in the tournament so watch out now this team has found it’s chemistry and they are rolling it’s goin to be a great match up between kuyper and FCC if kuyper can beat central bible college

I feel like Hillsdale got the shaft on their 7 seed. Grace U. has played well this year, but not better than Hillsdale. Looks like another year where the SW Region has to go through GBC to make any noise.
Please tell me that all of the games will be broadcasted live again??
Anybody have the top candidates for POY? Antoine Warren has to be in consideration?
I would say Isaac Gonzalez from DCC but they failed to make the tourney.

Hillsdale is an athletic team, but they will have to deal with the size of Grace’s frontline. Should be exciting to watch if Hillsdale can get past Manhattan. They split their season series with Manhattan, winning most recently.

I, too, look forward to seeing how Hillsdale fairs in the tounament. They seem to do well in rematches so far this season. The Manhattan vs Hillsdale game will be a good test! All year they have been the underdog. No one has given them much credit for their 21-8 record, 16-2 vs NCCAA II schools and #1 finish in their region. Maybe this “me against the world” attitude is a motivator for them to have continued success! Good Luck Saints!!

One thing no one has talked about is how CBC has been to every tournament lately, and this is ‘old hat’ for them. The electricity and the feeling of ‘one and done’ can get to teams, but I truly do not think CBC ever feels this. No matter how much people say CBC isn’t good, they always do better than predicted in the tourny….and Kuyper being a first-time team down there? Am I hearing upset city? I have watched Kuyper this year…very talented…but they do not have experiences in this type of situation on their side. I guess the same holds true for FCC too…could we see CBC do it again? Could be crazy. I think Kuyper has more skill on their side but playing @CBC in their own gym in a one and done game with that crazy crowd? Could be fun
Pete

Central Bible number one advantage in this game is definitely having a the crowd and playing in their own gym plus Kirk Hanson. Kuyper has is tough because CBC is not going to be a tough out and then FCC will be strong as well….Terrence Culler will have to be strong…Had 26 and 12 against VFCC..This tournament I believe is going to be closer and might have some suprises..Kuyper has to feed the ball inside and get that shot to fall down…They struggled shooting against Grace in the final

AJ,
I don’t think anyone knows anything about Trinity…its not that we don’t give them credit. They have not been a team who has been on my radar since I have been part of the NCCAA, and thats 14 yrs! Its not that we ‘hate on them’ or anything….just no knowledge! That an the NC region has not shown well the past few years @ Nationals which does not help

West Coast:
WC/Clearwater could be a pretty good game. If WC gets by them, VFCC and West Coast will be a big time track meet! Is west coast still up and down playing fast? This could be a fun game to watch if they can get past the well-disciplined Clearwater team
East Region reporter

VFCC does not turn everything into a track meet. They do like run when they have the chance but this season they have been settling things into the half court and running sets aka the dribble drive lol which is very effective for them

The #7 seed (#7 seed!) in the Midwest beat Manhattan. It would be cool to see teams like Northland, Moody, or Maranatha in addition to Kuyper and Grace. Some of these higher seeds at nationals would be very low in the Midwest division.

I read your post, and I thought for a second to myself, who in the world is even in the MW Region besides Grace Bible? That’s why those teams never get a chance.
Let’s review:
Emmaus? No.
Great Lakes CC? No.
Lincoln Christian? No, but they did have one quality win at the beginning of the season vs Manhattan on a neutral floor by one point. Reminds me of the saying, “Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.”
Maranatha? No. 5-22 on the season with all 5 wins coming against mediocre teams (best win was against Northland twice).
Moody? No. They have one huge win over Grace Bible at home (the rest are against the other “NO Teams” from the MW), and should have an asterisk next to it according to the people in attendance. They lost in the first round of the regional tournament.
Northland? No. Lost to the most disliked at-large bid, Manhattan Christian. Definitely the third fiddle in the MW Region, but squashed their chances by getting upset in the first round of the regional tournament.
Kuyper? Any team that beats the defending champs twice deserves a bid. Plus, they were the #1 seed in their regional tournament, and they lost the championship which automatically made them the at-large bid from the MW region.
Grace Bible College? Really? Can you even question the 3-time defending National Champions?
On another note, please don’t say something so vague as “Some of these higher seeds at nationals would be very low in the MW division.” Come out and make a statement. I’m confused also by the way you use “higher seeds” in your post. Do you really think that seeds 1-6 couldn’t be competitive in the MW Region? Surely not. I think you meant the low seeds in the tournament (7-12) couldn’t be competitive in the MW Region, and with that being said, I would only say that West Coast might have a tough time in the MW.
We all know that Grace Bible is the team to beat in the MW Region and in the NCCAA.

You are correct. Thank you for your long analysis.
Let me rewrite that portion:
Northland? No. Definitely the third fiddle in the MW Region, but squashed their chances by getting upset in the first round of the regional tournament.
Please read the NCCAA rules and regulations regarding the “At-Large” bids. This can be found at the link below, or on the NCCAA website under Men’s D-2 Basketball Handbook. Specifically the part about when the #1 seed loses in the regional tournament, and that there can only be ONE “at-large” from a region.
I think the point is having a rule to allow only 1 at large from a region keeps quality teams out. When it comes to “at-large” bids, a #3 team in a region maybe be better than a #2 team from a different region.
Obviously, this is the current NCCAA rule so that is what happens. The question is if it is a good one.
