Men’s Basketball: East Region Awards

Thanks to the East Region’s commitment to excellence of information, we have the full stats for every team in the East Region. Because we have that, I have analyzed the data, and I would like to give the First and Second Team all East Region.

There are four teams in the east region. Here are the power ratings of the east region:

2 Valley Forge Christian College E 0.8157
20 Lancaster Bible College E 0.5937
28 Philadelphia Biblical University E 0.5212
29 Baptist Bible College (PA) E 0.4712

Valley Forge is obviously the best team in the region, with a legitimate shot at the number one team in the country come tuesday. Lancaster, Philadelphia, and Baptist Bible are very close to the same team, and it will be difficult to differentiate who should be on what all region team from these three teams.

Coach of the Year

Jon Mack – Valley Forge Christian College

I picked my coach of the year based on two factors; WIN SHARES and Usage Rate. Win Shares is how many wins a player is worth in a 100 game season. Usage Rate is how often a player is used when that player is on the floor.

I picked the coach of the year by taking these two stats and compared them to each other. The coach of the year should be using their best players the most. When I completed the analysis, Jon Mack used his team the most efficiently. He used his best players the most and worst players the least.
