Women’s Basketball:

Grace University (8-7) vs. Manhattan Christian College (5-12)

Grace 47  MCC 72
No Grace University Women’s basketball team has won at Manhattan since 2004-2005, and  before that not since 2000.  This is by far one the toughest environments to play in of the year for any team.  This year was no different. Grace went into the game on a 4 game win streak, and looked strong early leading Manhattan by 8 on two occasions, then the shots stopped falling, and Manhattan started getting to the line.  The last 25 minutes were almost all Manhattan.  Manhattan got to the free throw line 34 times and made 27 of those attempts whereas Grace only got to the free throw line 15 times making 11.  This also marked the first non-NAIA game that Grace was out rebounded.  Manhattan dominated the boards with 49 rebounds to only 27 by the Lady Royals.  Grace was lead by Ashleigh Gyalog with 13 points.  Lindsey Anderson was the game’s leading scorer with 23 points from Manhattan Christian College.

Grace University (9-7) vs. Union College (5-12)

Grace 84  Union 40
Grace returned to their winning ways at home verse a Union team that they just meet up with one week previous.  In the first meeting Grace and Union were within 3 points at the half, this time however Grace came to play and took a 42-15 lead into the locker room. The offensive performance continued into the second half with Grace scoring another 42 points, but giving up 25 points this half.  Grace was lead by Erica Stubbendeck with 21 points.  And Ashleigh Gyalog for Grace dished out 12 assists 2 shy of the single game record of 14 set by All-American Rachel Schnell last year.

Grace University (9-7) vs. Hastings College JV (Exhibition)

Grace 45  Hastings 67
This was an exhibition game played at Hastings.  Both teams struggled to shot the ball early on with Hastings finding their shot first.  Grace was lead by Erica Stubeendeck with 19 points.

Men’s Basketball

Grace University (9-11) vs. Manhattan Christian College (12-9)

Grace 68  MCC 82
In the last decade Grace has won at Manhattan twice.  In 2008 the year that Grace won the National Championship they lost at Manhattan.  This year would prove to be just as big of a challenge.  Manhattan came out the door on fire, and took a 16 point lead of 32-16 11 minutes into the first half.  The next 20 minutes were all Grace.  Manhattan still lead going into the break with a score of 41-34, but Grace had cut the lead and would continue to do so until with 3 minutes left in the game Grace took a 64-62 lead.  Then Grace fell apart.  Grace turned the ball over and fouled the Manhattan player on the ensuing attempted layup.  He made one of two, but got his own miss for the offensive rebound, he then kicked it out and Manhattan hit a 3 taking a two point lead.  On the inbound Grace turned the ball over right under the basket and the Manhattan player made the layup and went to the line to shot one making Manhattan’s lead 5 points.  Grace was still in the game, but couldn’t seem to find an answer for the last 3 minutes.  The game was still only a 5 point game when Grace started fouling to try and come back.  Grace was lead by Jonathan Loutzenhiser who had 15 points.  Sterling Roaf was the game’s leading scorer from Manhattan with 17 points.

Grace University (10-11) vs. Nebraska Christian College (7-13)

Grace 76  NCC 63
Grace still dealing with the loss to Manhattan looked like they would come out and take care of business early opening up a 28 to 9 lead, NCC wasn’t about to go away.  They made the game ugly by forcing turnovers and pushing the tempo, They went on a 22-3 run to tie the game at 31 apiece going into the locker room.  Grace came out and fought for the win when things just didn’t seem to be going right.  Grace was lead by Artrell McMillan with 16 points, he was also the games leading scorer. Levi Entz also collected 16 rebounds.

Grace University (11-11) vs. Union College (10-11)

Grace 90  Union 72
In last week’s meeting Grace had to come out and play a tough second half to walk away with the win after the first half ended 33-33, this time around Grace took care of business in the first half walking into the locker room with a 49-26 lead.  Union came out and fought hard in the second half, but Grace took the win in the end.  Grace was lead by Spencer Plank with 26 points, and Jonathan Loutznehiser with 25.  Levi Entz grabbed 17 rebounds, and DeVonte Tiamfook dished out 14 assists.

Grace University (12-11) vs. Central Bible College (4-19)

Grace 92  CBC 67
Once again Grace took care of business in the first half holding CBC to just 28 points while scoring 46.  Grace continued the defensive performance in the second half out scoring CBC 46-39.  Grace was lead by Jonathan Loutzenhiser with 23 points.  Joey Kreuter from CBC also had 23 points.
