The 2011 Year in Review Post

Share

In the most successful, hectic, and fun year we have ever had, we want to take a moment and look back at the 2011 year and remember fondly a few key moments, posts, pages, and events. Take a look and let us know your thoughts on the past year:

Top 5 Events:

1. 2011 Men’s Basketball National Tournament

We had more hits on this page than anything we have ever done. The men’s basketball national tournament was a huge hit, and thanks in large part to the unbelievable game between Dallas Christian College and Grace Bible College. In case you forgot, we melted Central Bible College’s servers.

2. 2011 Men’s Soccer National Tournament

The addition of Moody Bible Institute made the men’s soccer tournament a huge hit for everyone. We had the most unique hits on this tournament ever for a fall championship. This tournament was full of drama, story-lines, and inspiration. Great tournament that the world got to see.

3. 2011 Women’s Volleyball National Tournament

You have to hand it to the NCCAA DII, they love them some volleyball. The women’s tournament was great this year, but the ending was as predictable as the next line in a Trace Adkins song.

4. 2011 Women’s Basketball National Tournament

To be honest, I was surprised at how low this tournament was. We had a lot of people watch, but last year was one of the greatest years talent wise in women’s basketball history, but not a lot of people watched this throughout the tournament. To be like that this year would be a shame, because women’s basketball is really good this year!

5. 2011 Women’s Soccer National Tournament

It was a weird tournament, not having the “best” team there, but it was still interesting. The seeding caused for some goofy match ups early, but all in all the best team at the tournament won. We would like to see a little more drama and intrigue next year.

Top 5 Posts and Pages:

1. Men’s Basketball Team Power Ratings

The men’s power ratings for basketball were a big hit last year, and we hope to see that kind of success again. With the addition of a few more advanced stats, we think this version will be better than ever.

2. Men’s Soccer Team Power Ratings

The men’s soccer version of the power ratings were hotly contested all year. The computer believed that the two best teams were Northland and Moody, not Ohio. This played out, but to be honest, the computer’s dislike of Ohio was quite baffling to me. Ohio was better than what the computer said they were.

3. 2011 Men’s Soccer National Tournament Seeding Announcement and Times

Everyone loves filling out brackets and the whole concept of a tournament. I believe that the men’s soccer tournament draws the most rabid interest amongst their fans. Even above basketball. Men’s soccer, for some reason gets the tournament right.

4. The Blevins Men’s Basketball Preseason Top 12 and Season Preview

Michael Blevins addition to the staff went off well. His basketball season preview was a huge hit, and was hit often. We await the return of Mr. Blevins, as rumor is he is writing a hard-hitting masterpiece exposing controversy at the highest of levels. Maybe.

5. Women’s Soccer Team Power Ratings

Lancaster was the clear number one all year, but the controversy was over number two and maybe number three. I think that if the computer got this right the committee should have done a little better at seeding.

Thanks so much for checking out our year in review. To the 300,000 different people that hit the website in 2011 we wanted to thank you for an amazing year. When we tell the story of CCSN to people and advertisers we explain to them that the success of this website is not on content (Obviously) or the “level” at which the teams achieve, but instead in the community and treatment of each other on here.

We occasionally have our squabbles like any good family, but all in all we love and treat each other with respect, and that is what we are most proud of around here at CCSN. Thanks so much everyone! Happy New Year!
