In the midst of rivalry week we have the new power ratings and player ratings for you all to consume. There is going to be some big time discussion about all of these ratings, and I hope to hear your opinion. I don’t agree with everything that the computer concludes, but I do think it is pretty close to being almost right. Check it out, oh! and Allen Durham still tops the player ratings.
- Grace Bible College
- Florida Christian College
- Central Bible College
Most people will probably agree with this, except! What in the world is Florida Christian College doing that high. Well looking at the numbers it is a combination of things; FCC is actually getting better as the season progresses, and teams keep losing above them. The only team that I think has a good argument is Kentucky Christian University, but even their argument is not great.
Strength of Schedule
When determining the strength of schedule (SOS) you have to factor in a team’s opponent, and also a team’s opponent’s opponent. Kind of confusing, but here is the top three NCCAA SOS.
- Kentucky Christian University
- Valley Forge Christian College
- Ohio Christian University
Best Offense
These teams are the top 3 teams that you need to watch out for on the offesive end of the court. This doesn’t mean that they are going to score, but when they get the ball, positive things are going to happen. This is the top 3 offenses according to how efficient a team is on offense.
- Clearwater Christian College – 66.36%
- Hillsdale Free Will Baptist – 63.37%
- North Central University – 59.15%
All three of these teams have ridiculous efficiencies, and after having watched North Central, I can attest to you that this stat is pretty accurate. North Central (because I have seen them play) just makes offense look easy. They are constantly getting the ball in good positions on the floor for good shots.
Best Defense
These teams will lock you down. This is the top 3 teams according to how many times they keep the other team from having a positive offensive possesion. Basically, you better have a shooter to spread these teams out, because getting to the rim is going to be rather difficult.
- Ohio Christian University – 12.05%
- Florida Christian College – 14.56%
- Grace Bible College – 18.73%
The interesting team to me is Florida Christian College. We had a commentor on here awhile back mention that Florida must have really improved because when he last saw them they were terribly unorganized. Well, I think this shows that we have found why Florida Christian has begun to really improve. They have more of a commitment to defense.
- Allen Durham – F – Sr. – Grace Bible College – 77.67% of team performance
- Casey Jones – G – Sr. – Kentucky Christian University – 82.15% of team performance
- Charles Page – G/F – So. – Manhattan Christian College – 75.16% of team performance
The top two are givens, but who is Charles Page? Well, if you don’t know about Charles Page, then you probably should. Very good player for a very average Manhattan team.
Most Improved Player
- Nathan Roeder – G – So. – North Central University – +107 to #4
- Bryce Burkman – F – Fr. – North Central University – +97 to #10
- Tyler Betz – F – So. – Faith Baptist Bible College – +45 to #37
The two North Central kids shot up the rankings thanks to their team’s performance, and their performance this second semester. Nathan Roeder has been unbelievable lately, you must see this kid play. We love Burkman as well, this kid has loads of potential.
Freshman of the Year Race
- Bryce Burkman – F – Fr. – North Central University
- A.J. Williams – F – Fr. – Florida Christian College
- Luke Brigham – G – Fr. – Clearwater Christian College

I'm just curious why Lancaster and BBC (PA) are ranked pretty highly in the coach's poll, but not rated very high in the power ratings. Is it primarily because they don't play many NCCAA teams?
Well for Lancaster the game against Philadelphia hurts. the computer doesn't see philly as being very good. The game tonight against Valley Forge should help things.
Baptist Bible College lost to Lancaster by a lot, and lost to Valley Forge, who is struggling right now. Therefore, the computer sees that and think BBC isn't very strong.
Having said that. Lancaster has a huge chance to move up, while Baptist kind of looks locked into their ranking. They will probably rise and fall as to how the East Region does as a whole.
Lancaster has two games against Valley Forge that can really help their ranking. If they can get one of those, it will boost them a good 10 spots no doubt.
This all hinges on Valley Forge thought. If VAlley Forge can continue to get wins, and stay in the top 5, it will help the east region as a whole. If they continue to struggle, the east region is starting to look really average.
Who and where is New Hope?
I MISS THE SNOWMAN.
New Hope is in Eugene, OR. Used to be called Eugene Bible College
Cole,
Not sure if you are aware but Terrance Billups is no longer playing at Kuyper. His last game was 1/7/11 against MBBC.
Thanks Coach I will remove him from the player rater, and take him off the average stat leaders.
